After fairytale-like Óbidos you will encounter a few steep climbs between Caldas da Rainha and Alcobaça, this way you can enjoy far views. Just before Alcobaça the descent starts to continue in a fairly flat way to the sea. You can choose the alternative of staying near the coast and cycle through wood with seascapes all the way to Nazaré.

The tour goes over hilly to mountainous terrain, where fruit cultivation, agriculture and forestry alternate with small villages. The climb up to Ferreira do Zêzere is rewarded with magnificent views on the way back to Tomar.
Day 6 Tomar – Alcanena, 65 / 78 km
Interdependent from the choice you make for today, it will be the flattest stage of the whole week. You have a choice between the rugged 'high-plane' between Tomar and the Tagus river, to continue over its flood-planes with its intensive farming and the horse capital of Portugal, Golegã. The second choice is to cycle to the hydro-electric power station station in the Zêzere river to have a enchanting downhill ride to the town of Constância.
Back on the right bank both routes come together to follow along the fields on the flood-planes. Somewhat hillier and with a change in scenery you will leave the Tagus valley to arrive in Alcanena.
